Your Experience

Ride

Before the trail ride begins you will meet your horse for the week. We have the most gorgeous and well mannered horses suitable for all riders.

Find out more about our amazing horses on our Horse Welfare page.

Maureen & Paul will select your stead for the week and discuss your trail itinerary. The first ride is to Lanark Castle and Corra Castle with a luxurious picnic just beside the famous falls of Clyde.

Relax

Throughout the Castles Trail we stay at a variety of inns and castles, most with Spas so you can ease the aches of a day in the saddle. Our first night is at the award-winning Stobo Castle & Spa, where you’ll enjoy a gourmet dinner with fine wines. The amazing facilities of the world-class Stobo Spa will be available to you, to help you relax and unwind.

Discover

Our trail passes through New Lanark (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the historic town of Selkirk, and on the Thursday morning you will have a bespoke tour of Traquair Castle, the oldest inhabited castle  in Scotland. Throughout your journey, we will provide you with a commentary on the history of each area and a guide on the amazing variety of wildlife in the area.

Finish

The Castles Trail finishes at the spectacular Bowhill Estate in Selkirk, the home of the inhabited Castle of the Duke of Buccleuch. A fitting end to a once in a lifetime experience.

THE CASTLES TRAIL

Carla’s Review

“An amazing trip. Maureen and her team are extremely professional and yet so warm, caring for the guests, the horses, the overall atmosphere. Everything from matching the horses to the riders, to the complicated yet smooth logistics, was incredibly well thought out. I now feel part of this incredible big family, what an honour. It was beyond all my expectations. And the scenery of each of the ride was breath taking and diverse. I can’t praise the Castle Trail ride enough. Thanks Maureen, Paul, Gillian, Emma, Cerys, and everyone else who participated to the success of our holidays! Wow!”

Connie’s Review

“Do it! I was there last year and had the time of my life. Everything is perfectly done. Maureen and Paul are very special people along with the trail leads. The horses are safe, but certainly not plugs! I highly advise taking this trip!”

Laurie’s review

“I’ve ridden all over the world and this ride was one of my favorites. Maureen and Paul do everything right- wonderful horses, great company, beautiful scenery!”
